The Reason Behind Christi's Shopping Menu
With 1-year old Evan around, I need to streamline my grocery shopping and menu preparation as much as possible… otherwise, we simply don’t eat well.
At 31 years of age, I know - and admit - my limitations as a cook.
If I have to stand in front of the fridge or pantry and figure out what kind of concoction to create when mealtime is staring me in the face… well, let’s just say that rarely works out well. I don't do cook under pressure. I'm not much of an 'experimental, intuitive' cook, either... so I prefer to work from recipes.
On the other hand, if I know what’s available for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks…if there’s no guesswork involved... then I actually look forward to cooking. I can quickly and easily make a meal if I can follow a healthy recipe that I’m familiar with and have made a few times before.
Plus, I find that it’s often faster to make a healthy meal than it is to drive to the store and buy prepared food. Does this sound familiar?
If you'd like to download the menu that I used to cook all of my family's meals for the week of January 1, 2007 (yes, even Evan's baby food), click here.
You'll need Adobe Acrobat to download this file (it's a .pdf file). In the documents, you'll find my menu, my recipes, and my shopping list from the week of January 1... all there for your cooking pleasure.
I even provide step-by-step directions so this document will be easy to use. Even for a new mom who's lost a few brain cells after giving birth... a busy professional who's working 12+ hours a day... or a marathon runner who's on the road (literally) several times throughout the week.

If you use this menu, will you please email me and let me know which recipes you liked... and which ones you'd make again? I'd love to hear how the menu works out for you... and how you tweak it to make it your own.
Your feedback is MUCH appreciated!
